A Second Generation Chiropractor and Applied Kinesiologist, Doctor Benjamin Horning grew up in a holistic home. After seeing the power of Chiropractic and Applied Kinesiology, it became apparent what was the best course for him to take. Dr. Ben studied at the University of Maryland and received the unique degree of Agriculture and Resource Economics. The program showed him early on the politics of our food system.

He learned about the natural ways food can be grown and sold, as well as, the cheaper unhealthier ways. This experience shook him due to the openness in his education about the flaws in our food system. His time in Maryland helped him to properly look at nutrition without any known or unknown political biases. Afterwards, Dr. Ben went to get his Chiropractic Doctorate at Southern California University of Health Sciences.

While at school, he got his Applied Kinesiology certification and was the school’s club president in the technique. He twice went to Washington DC and helped fight for Chiropractic Rights in the new healthcare system. He graduated on the Dean’s List and was awarded Cum Laude. After school, Dr. Ben dove right into private practice treating thousands of different patient cases ranging from professional athletes, veterans, the homeless, special needs patients, pregnancy patients, children, the elderly, entire families, wellness patients, and even patients who saw holistic care as a last resort.

Dr. Ben has seen it all and confronts each case with a smile. His passion comes from helping people, with the confidence that something can be done about it. An eternal optimist, Dr. Ben truly cares about restoring health and allowing his patients to flourish in whatever goals they have.

Dr. Vanessa graduated from Southern California University of Health Sciences with a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. She is a diplomate in Oriental Medicine and is certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She has done further study in Taichung, Taiwan at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and has volunteered with many charities to help bring the healing power of acupuncture to underserved communities. Dr. Vanessa has also helped provide care for the patients of the Oncology Center of Hope and Innovation. She has a drive to combine acupuncture with evidence-based medicine. This passion has allowed her to conduct various studies including her research that was presented to the American Public Health Association on her work on acupuncture and it’s benefits for migraines. She has also conducted a case study on the positive effects of acupuncture for addiction and smoking cessation. Her passions include treating sports injury, pain management and musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Vanessa brings a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective to her patients. Along with Acupuncture, she further specializes in cupping, Tui Na (Eastern Massage), gua sha (scraping) as well as Chinese herbal medicine and nutrition. Many people see Dr. Vanessa to improve their lives and achieve balance to their bodies. When she is not here, you can find her teaching student Chiropractors and Acupuncturists at her Alma Mater, SCUHS in Whittier, Ca.

Dr. Marko is a dedicated chiropractor committed to enhancing the health and wellness of her patients. She graduated with summa cum laude honors from Southern California University of Health Sciences, where she developed a strong foundation in chiropractic care and holistic health practices. Prior to her chiropractic studies, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon, where she nurtured her passion for science and human anatomy.

With a deep understanding of the body’s mechanics, Dr. Marko employs evidence-based techniques to provide individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs. She believes in empowering her patients through education and actively involving them in their healing process.

When she’s not in the office, Dr. Marko enjoys soaking up the sun at the beach, finding joy in nature and relaxation. Her love for the outdoors fuels her passion for health and wellness, reminding her of the importance of balance in life.

Melisa McCalla brings a blend of warmth, expertise, and personal dedication to her role as an acupuncturist at Horning Chiropractic & Acupuncture.

Melisa’s journey into acupuncture is deeply personal. Diagnosed with an autoimmune condition at a young age, she experienced firsthand the limitations of traditional medicine. Discovering acupuncture brought her the relief she had long sought, igniting a profound passion to help others through this transformative healing practice. Melisa completed her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at South Baylo University, also graduating Cum Laude and receiving multiple academic and clinical scholarships throughout her studies.

Melisa is a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine and is certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). With extensive experience treating a wide range of conditions—including Bell’s Palsy, autoimmune disorders, thyroid conditions, lupus, fibromyalgia, asthma, chronic and acute pain, migraines, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, and stress —Melisa offers comprehensive care tailored to each individual’s needs. She also specializes in complementary therapies such as cupping, gua sha (scraping), Chinese herbal medicine, and nutritional counseling to support holistic healing and overall well-being.

Jaime Has provided therapeutic massage services for over 13 years and is licensed in California and Connecticut. During this period Jaime has gained extensive experience in many different modalities and techniques. Some of these skills include deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, prenatal massage, and hot stone massage therapy. Jaime is skilled at listening to the needs of the clients and providing specialized care based on those needs. Jaime strives to provide a relaxing and therapeutic experience.
